About Shri Varshney Degree College Aligarh
Shri Varshney Degree College in Aligarh was founded in 1947 and is affiliated with Dr. B. R. A. University Agra. It’s a respected institution within the university. The college’s roots trace back to 1922 when a commercial school was established during the Non-cooperation Movement.
This school was upgraded over the years: to a middle school in 1931, a high school in 1939, and an intermediate college in 1945 before becoming Shri Varshney Degree College. Dr. Kanhaiya Lal Garg was the first principal of Shri Varshney Degree College, starting with a team of nine teachers and three clerks.
At the beginning, there were 20 students in the first year of the LL.B. program and 33 students in the first year of the B.Com program.
Now, after more than 60 years, the college has grown into a multi-faculty institution offering programs in Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, and Law. It has over 6,000 students, with about 4,000 of them being female.
