The Online Application System is designed for new prospective students applying to UP for the first time. Current UP students should not use this system.

Whether you want to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies, the University of Pretoria offers various study programs in different fields. These include Economic & Management Sciences, Education, Engineering, Built Environment, Information Technology, Health Sciences, Humanities, Law, Natural and Agricultural Sciences, Theology, and Veterinary Science. The application process for the University of Pretoria (UP) is entirely online. Here are the steps:
- Visit the University of Pretoria application site
- Click on the “Apply Now” button.
- Select “Start a new application” (If you are unsure about which courses you qualify for, there is an option to find out).
- Begin your online application.
University of Pretoria (UP) Application Fee
The University of Pretoria (UP) charges a non-refundable application fee of R300 (30 US Dollars) for 2025.

Application Fee Waiver
UP offers an application fee waiver for students whose household income is R150,000 or less per year. During the online application process (Step 12), you can upload proof of income documentation to be considered for the fee waiver. These documents will be verified by the university.
University of Pretoria (UP) Closing Dates
The University of Pretoria’s application deadline for all study programs is June 30, 2024, except for the Veterinary Science faculty, which closes on May 31, 2024. Prospective students have three months to secure their place for the 2025 academic year.

How To Apply – Your UP Application
- Go to the university website.
- Click on ‘study’ and then ‘apply’.
- Click on ‘Apply now’.
- Click on ‘I want to’ and select ‘start new application’.
- Select ‘OK’.
- Fill in the required information.
- Click back to the ‘I want to’ drop down list.
- Select ‘log in to continue’.
- Fill in your login details.
- Confirm your email address and change your password.
- Click on the ‘>’ button.
- Fill in the required information.
- Submit the following documents in PDF form:
- Copy of your ID or passport
- Grade 11 report or your final score certificate
- Proof of payment of application fee (R300)
- Review your application.
- If you are sure you are done with your application, click on the ‘I have completed the application …’ button.
- Click on ‘return’.
How To Track Your University of Pretoria Online Application?
- Go to the university website.
- Click on ‘study’ and then ‘apply’.
- Click on ‘Application status’.
- Click on the link they direct you to check your status.
- Enter your login details.
- You will then be able to view your UP application status.
Once the application has been submitted, you will receive communication from the university explaining how to access your Student Centre through the UP Student Portal, enabling you to track your progress and status, as well as other communications and possible outstanding items.
