The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), organized by the Japan Foundation and Japan Education Exchanges & Services (JEES) and conducted by the Japanese Cultural Society of Singapore, helps students assess their Japanese language skills. The test encourages students’ interest in learning Japanese to foster cross-cultural understanding.
When is the JLPT Test Date?
The JLPT is held twice each year:
- July Test Date: First Sunday of July (next on 7 July 2024)
- December Test Date: First Sunday of December (1 December 2024)
Where is the JLPT Test Centre in Singapore?
JLPT test locations include:
- PSB Academy (N1)
- Singapore Management University (SMU) – N2 & N4 (LKCSOB & SOA) and N3 & N5 (SOE/SCIS-2)
How Do I Register for the JLPT?
Registration Process:
- Registration for the JLPT is online only.
- Registration is open for three weeks and may close early if maximum capacity is reached.
Registration Dates for 2024
- July JLPT: 11 to 28 March 2024
- December JLPT: 12 August to 2 September 2024
Registration is divided into phases:
- N1: Opens 12 August at 9:00 AM – limited to 400 candidates, fee $110
- N2: Opens 14 August at 9:00 AM – limited to 400 candidates, fee $110
- N3: Opens 19 August at 9:00 AM – limited to 400 candidates, fee $110
- N4: Opens 21 August at 9:00 AM – limited to 450 candidates, fee $100
- N5: Opens 26 August at 9:00 AM – limited to 450 candidates, fee $100
Important: Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Double payments are discouraged, as a $5 service fee is applied for any refund through Stripe payment.
How to Download the JLPT Admit Card 2024?
- Once your registration is confirmed, you’ll receive an admit card online.
- Go to the JLPT official website during the admit card release period.
- Log in with your credentials and download the admit card.
- Print the admit card, as it is required for entry into the test center.
Note: Your admit card includes essential information about the test center location, reporting time, and test schedule.
What Should I Bring to the Test Centre?
- ID Card: You must bring a valid photo ID (such as NRIC).
- Punctuality: Late arrivals will not be allowed to enter, and no refund will be given.
Is There a Refund Policy for the JLPT?
JLPT fees are generally non-refundable and non-transferable, except if the test is canceled due to circumstances beyond the organizer’s control (e.g., COVID-19). In this case, a $10 administrative fee will be deducted before the refund is processed.
