About Jamal Mohamed College
Jamal Mohamed College was established in 1951, initially affiliated with the University of Madras and later with Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, starting in 1982. It’s located in Tiruchirappalli city, central Tamil Nadu.
The college was founded as a minority institution with a key goal of offering higher education to the underprivileged and socially disadvantaged segments of society.
The college is managed by the Society of Jamal Mohamed College and is established on a vast 87-acre campus as a minority institution. Its founders, Hajee M. Jamal Mohamed Sahib and Janab N.M. Khajamian Rowther, aimed to provide education to marginalized communities.
In 1957, the college received recognition as one of India’s top thirty colleges when the Danforth Foundation of the USA awarded study fellowships to its students for the USA. In 1963, the college became a post-graduate institution.
