History: Haryana became a separate state from Punjab in 1966. It has a rich history filled with ancient kingdoms, spiritual significance, and many battles. In 1966, Haryana had only Kurukshetra University and 2 government colleges. Now, the state boasts 38 universities, including 1 Central University, 10 State Universities, 24 Private Universities, 3 Deemed Universities, and 1 Institute of Eminence.
The Governor of Haryana serves as Chancellor for State Universities and as Visitor for Private Universities. These universities offer a wide range of faculties and courses.
